HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO GO SKYDIVING?
This one is one is another very common question. Lets look at the price ranges and break down the cost.
Skydiving prices in the U.S. vary based on location, jump type, and what each dropzone offers. Whether you’re planning your first tandem jump or thinking about earning your skydiving license, understanding the costs makes it easier to plan for a truly life-changing experience.
Spoiler alert: it’s worth every penny.
Skydiving Cost for First-Time Jumpers
First-time tandem skydives in the United States typically range from $200–$300, which usually includes training, gear rental, and the jump itself. You can see our skydive prices here.
Many dropzones also offer photo and video packages—highly recommended if you want to relive the moment and share it with friends and family.
These add-ons generally cost $99–$150, and trust us… even seasoned skydivers still watch their first jump videos.
Skydiving Cost for Licensed Skydivers
Ready to take it further? Becoming a licensed skydiver requires completing an Accelerated Freefall (AFF) program, which can take 25 jumps and usually costs around $3,000–$4,000. This covers ground school, instructor-assisted jumps, solo jumps, and gear rental.
Once licensed, skydiving becomes much more affordable. Licensed jumpers typically pay $25–$35 per jump if they own their gear. Renting gear adds about $35–$50 per jump. The biggest investment is buying equipment—but used gear, trade-ins, and community support can significantly reduce costs.
Why Is Skydiving So Expensive?
Safety is the biggest factor. Skydiving isn’t something you want to do “cheap.” Here’s what goes into the cost:
Equipment: Life-saving gear that requires constant inspection and FAA-mandated reserve repacks every 180 days.
Aircraft: Planes are expensive to buy, fuel, and maintain—fuel costs alone can impact pricing.
Instructors: Highly trained professionals certified through the US Parachute Association, with years of experience, ongoing education, and thousands of skydives.
Pilots & Crew: From manifest to ground crew to pilots, it takes a skilled team to run a safe, efficient dropzone.
Facilities: Clean, professional spaces that keep jumpers comfortable and operations running smoothly.
Is Skydiving Worth It?
Absolutely. Skydiving isn’t just an adrenaline rush—it’s a confidence boost, a fear-conqueror, and a memory you’ll carry forever. Freefalling at 120 mph and landing with a huge smile is an experience unlike any other.
