On Monday April 27th, Governor DeWine announced his new plan on re-opening Ohio. Although in the weeks prior, he claimed we have flattened the curve and are ready to start reopening businesses, his plan is not in our favor. It actually seems like he went in a more strict direction and closed us down even further. At this time, we are not permitted to open this weekend and currently do not have a foreseeable opening date. There is a chance that we may be able to open May 12th but it is uncertain on if we fall in that category/phase or not. All courses will be postponed to May 26th for the time being. We hope that we will be able to open sooner but we are not starting new courses so that we can take care of our current jumpers properly and get you recurrent before we start taking on new jumpers.
We have already talked to the health department and came up with a reasonable plan to open up safely. Masks will be a requirement for all staff, jumpers and anyone else who comes to Cleveland Skydiving Center. Please make sure that you have an appropriate mask for walking around the dz, in the aircraft, free-fall and while packing. If you do not have something suitable, please let us know ahead of time and we can provide you with one. If you have a temperature or are experiencing any flu-like symptoms we ask that you do not come to the dropzone. Do your part in keeping everyone at our facility safe. If one of our pilots gets sick, then there will not be any skydiving for anyone at our facility for quite some time. Let that sink in……
Over the next week, we plan on reaching out to our representatives letting them know how we feel and asking them to re-open Ohio so that we can save what is left of our economy. Once we get more information, we will pass it along to all of you. Please reach out to us with any questions and concerns that you may have. Thank you all very much for your patience and we will give another update this weekend. Only time will tell what our next plans should be.
